Nick Christodoulou bagged a brace as Oxfordshire Under 14s made a flying start to their Reed Trophy campaign with a 4-2 win over Berkshire at Milton United.
Despite dominating the game, Oxfordshire almost let victory slip from their grasp before two late goals saw them home.
Oxon went close on several occasions before Christodoulou put them ahead.
Aaron Woodley crashed a long-range drive against the bar, and then a Jordan Ayris shot hit the underside of the bar and bounced over the line to put Oxfordshire 2-0 up.
Five minutes into the second half, a Berkshire free-kick, intended as a cross, was caught up by the wind and sailed in just under the bar.
Shortly afterwards, Berkshire were level when another free-kick took a deflection off a defender's head and flew into the net.
But Christodoulou raced through to restore Oxfordshire's lead with ten minutes left.
And then Sam Parish scored a solo goal to make the game safe.
Oxfordshire are in action when they face Hampshire at Milton United on Tuesday (7.30).
