Three caravans, a boat, a car and a car trailer were involved in a fire at Oakfields Caravan Park in Murcott Road yesterday.

One of the caravans was destroyed in the blaze, which firefighters from The Slade in Oxford, Bicester and Kidlington attended.

The fire involved three large and one small propane gas cylinders. Fire crews were called at 7.40am and were at the scene for more than three hours.

Paul Molloy, the officer in charge of the incident, said: "One caravan was destroyed and nothing was salvageable from it. The fire then spread to cause damage to the other items."

He added: "It was a time consuming incident. One of the large gas cylinders started venting off which meant we could not leave until the gas had burnt off."

No one was injured in the incident.
