Classic flavours of gooseberry and passionfruit abound in this crisp, yet fruity example of Sauvignon Blanc that has delightful touches of honeysuckle on the finish.
Montes Classic Series Sauvignon Blanc 2006, Casablanca and Curico Valleys, Chile: Aurelio Montes is the man credited with lifting the image of Chilean wines towards the quality end of the market with his well-made classic wines. Here his Sauvignon is typically clean with mouth-watering crisp fruit and the kind of aromatic structure that comes from high-altitude vineyards. Lovely wine.
Vergelegen Sauvignon Blanc 2005, Western Cape, South Africa: One of the top wineries in South Africa is under the auspices of brilliant winemaker Andre von Rensburg. Vergelegen Sauvignon is crisp and intense with gooseberry, blackcurrant and green pepper. With leanings towards the French style, this wine has delightful mineral notes and excellent structure.
