AN AUTUMN ceilidh is being organised by Banbury Folk Association at the town hall on Saturday, October 24, to raise money for the town's Canalside Folk Festival.
The event will feature The Old Mettle Dance Band, a local group that plays traditional English music with a modern twist.
Playing the music will be Dave Moore, Bryan Martin, Stephen Wass, Gorden Raitt, and Rey Lear. Their caller is Verna Wass. There will also be a floor spot from top local folk-rock musician and singer/songwriter P J Wright (Little Johnny England and Dylan Project).
A real ale bar and snacks will be available. Organisers Derek and Mary Droscher said: "We started this fundraising knees-up last year. A fantastic crowd had a lot of fun during the evening.
"It doesn't matter if anyone has not danced at a ceilidh before because the caller makes sure everyone knows what to do by running through every dance before it starts".
Admission is £8 on the door or tickets can be purchased in advance on 01295 709881.
