Vale of White Horse Under 14s retained the Vale Cup - and they did it in style with a 100 per cent record.

The youngsters lifted the trophy after brushing aside unbeaten Stroud 4-1 in their final game at Clanfield FC on Thursday.

It was their second impressive win in the space of six days after they overpowered Mid Oxon 5-1 at Marlborough School, Woodstock, last Saturday.

Vale could have been three goals ahead inside four minutes against Stroud after a blistering start.

But they missed numerous chances before Sam Parish finally broke the deadlock with a superb individual effort just before half-time.

Three goals early in the second half made the game safe.

Sam Quelch made the most of a goalkeeping error to put Vale 2-0 in front, before he added another moments later.

Nick Christodoulou completed the tally, before Stroud reduced the arrears with a free-kick into the far corner.

Christodoulou had been the hero with a hat-trick in Vale's emphatic win against Mid Oxon.

With the wind at their backs, Vale started strongly, but excellent defence by Mid Oxon, with Chris Mills outstanding, kept them at bay.

A deflected shot put Vale ahead, and Quelch scored an excellent second before Christodoulou made it 3-0 just before half time.

The second half was even, but Christodoulou added another before Adam Wallington pulled one back for Mid Oxon.

Vale completed the scoring with fine minutes remaining when Christodoulou secured his hat-trick.

VALE of White Horse Under 11s produced a five-goal second-half show to blitz St Albans 5-0 in their friendly at the Oxford Brookes Westminster Institute of Edu- cation.

It took Vale until 13 minutes into the second half to score when James Clarke flashed a volley into the net.

But then the floodgates opened. Iain Pinder scored a superb solo effort, Clarke grabbed his second, Conor Ingram made it 4-0 and Ross MacDonald headed No 5.
