It is more than two years since a report set out a series of major improvements to Broad Street in Oxford in an effort to turn a poorly used space into a centrepiece of the city centre.
Since then, there has been very little sign of any moves to implement much of what was a welcome vision for this quarter.
This week, the Bodleian has been putting some flesh on to the bones of its plans for the New Bodleian. It will see the creation of something akin to a public square at that end of Broad Street.
It is a start, but we hope it will be the impetus for more significant proposals to make Broad Street more worthy of the beauty that surrounds it.
