A pensioner is furious yobs have come back and knocked down a wall for the second time this year.

It is thought hundreds of pounds of damage was caused to the decorative, 3ft wall when a section was knocked down last month.

But Geoffrey Arthurs, 79, of Ashley Court, Peat Moors, Oxford, decided against mending it for fear of it being damaged again - and was upset to find a further 9ft section was destroyed in the early hours of Monday.

Mr Arthurs said: "I went down to get my newspaper at 7.45am and I was shocked to see it had happened again.

"It's just a blooming nuisance. You would think it would be a reasonable area, it's not too bad a place, it's just this keeps happening.

"There is the odd car window smashed occasionally, but nothing more serious than that usually. There is a field down the bottom where football is played and I understand they smoke this and that and then come up to the estate.

"It does worry one a little bit because I do live on my own and there is a lady opposite who also lives on her own. But luckily enough she was away on holiday when the latest thing happened so she hasn't seen it yet.

"It's a real nuisance, a bit worrying and it makes people angry. I would really like to find out why they do it and have a chat with them."

Mr Arthurs said since the wall was first damaged he had been waking up expecting to find further vandalism.

He said: "I think I'll wait a little while before fixing it because I don't want to put it up and get it knocked down again straight away."

Mr Arthurs, who is retired but works part time for the League of Friends, said the police were notified both times and he was expecting officers to visit the property for a second time to inspect the damage.

During the incident in January, in neighbouring Vivienne Court, it is claimed that one of the residents was threatened with a knife when he asked a group of youths to move on.
