THE city council's recycling service has hit another milestone with the 1,000th order placed for a blue wheelie bin.
The blue bins, which cost £20, are for those who want to recycle more material than their free boxes allow.
Since the new arrangements were introduced in November last year, the authority has received 10,000 orders for extra green boxes and 2,000 for extra blue boxes.
The Town Hall said recycling of glass, paper and plastics in the first area of the new arrangements was up 80 per cent in January and February compared to the same four week period for last year.
