Sir - I am one of the regular London commuters who has suffered the timetable changes of December 10, followed by the minor improvements on January 15.
In my view the problems created by these changes would be dramatically alleviated if FGW swapped the trains they use for the 0645 and 0807 services, both of which are "fast" services originating in Oxford and going to London.
Before December 10, the 0645 service was an eight-carriage high speed train originating in Oxford, taking one hour to get to London. The new 0645 service is a miserable, cold Turbo service that limps along taking 1 hour and 13 minutes to reach Paddington, and not surprisingly it has been largely boycotted by commuters at Oxford.
But the 0807 is an eight-carriage high speed train service originating at Oxford, and on the four occasions I have used it, the train has been almost empty. For example, on March 2 I shared carriage G with one other passenger to Reading and had the carriage to myself from Reading to Paddington.
I hope it is not beyond the wit of FGW to swop these trains and make a dramatic difference to the reliability and overcrowding of the early morning commuter services from Oxford to Paddington.
