Sir - A new bus route is always useful, especially now in the battle against traffic congestion and global warming. But there seems to be no 'official' method of announcing the good news.

I discovered the new 700 route in mid-February while I was waiting for a city bus at Hernes Road stop - a small white bus travelling from Water Eaton park-and-ride to the JR Hospital. The Gloucester Green bus office produced a time-table but had nothing displayed on the wall shelves, although the bus had been running for a month, every 15 minutes, with seven stops in Summertown and one stop in Marston Ferry Road.

I used the bus in late February early pm to get to Headington with only one other passenger. Returning 5.30ish saw more passengers, mainly JR staff. When I mentioned publicity, the driver encouraged me to spread the word. Run by RH Transport Services, Witney, under contract with the county council, the service is subsidised by the NHS Radcliffe Hospitals Trust. But I fear we shall lose it if it is not better known and publicised.
