POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a distraction burglary of an 89-year-old woman in Neithrop, Banbury.
At about 3.15pm on Monday, three men called at the woman's home in Boxhedge Square.
They said they were from the council and they had come to fit a security alarm. While one man distracted the lady, the other two searched through the house. All three men then left the house.
They stole some money and various documents.
PC Rebecca McCamley, from the Banbury Priority Crime Team, said: "This was a callous act which has left the lady very shaken. I would ask anybody that may have witnessed the incident or saw three men in the area acting suspiciously, to please get in touch.
"We want people to be aware of the tactics that groups like these have employed to gain access, distract the occupants and commit crime so that they are less likely to become another victim."
