POLICE today released an e-fit of a man that they want to speak to in connection with an attempted abduction in Banbury.
At about 5pm on Sunday, March 4, a woman was jogging on the lane leading to the Mill at the rear of Broughton Castle's grounds. She was approached by a white, clean, fairly new Vauxhall Astra estate van, with two men inside.
The driver got out and tried to stop the woman. She managed to break free and ran to a nearby house as the vehicle followed her. No one answered the door and she ran across a meadow to another home where she was taken in.
The man is of Eastern European appearance, aged about 28, 6ft tall and slim. He was unshaven and had long brown wavy hair.
Det Con Jason Simpson, based at Banbury police station, said: "This is a worrying incident and we are treating it very seriously. I would ask anybody that may have seen this man in the area at the time or saw the Vauxhall Astra driving around, to please get in touch.
"I would especially appeal to the man who was also jogging in the vicinity at the time. We don't believe he is connected to this incident but he may have vital information and I would ask him to come forward."
Anyone with information can contact Det Con Simpson via the Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505.
If you do not want to speak to police and do not want to leave your name, contact the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
