OXFORD United are hopeful that skipper Phil Gilchrist will be fit to face Forest Green Rovers at the Kassam Stadium tomorrow, but Barry Quinn probably won't make it.

Gilchrist came off early in Tuesday's win at Southport with a lower back injury, while both Matt Day and Quinn sustained hamstring strains.

Leading scorer Rob Duffy is also a doubt after taking a knock, but is expected to be OK.

Said boss Jim Smith: "The lads are obviously bouncing from four wins in a row.

"It's been nullified a little bit by the fact that we've got injuries and we're waiting on Gilly, Quinn and Duffy.

"Matty Day has come through and trained though.

"Quinny had to stay on at Southport, but all three defenders could have come off.

"I think Gilly will be OK, it's his back, not his knee, which we can put right.

"That's what's concerning me at the moment, that we're waiting to see who's fully fit. But the lads are doing everything you ask them to do."

However, Smith warned that their Gloucestershire opponents are a very different proposition now to the team Oxford beat 5-1 five months ago.

"They've drawn ten away so have obviously got their tactics sorted, and will make life very difficult, but we expect that," he said.

"Jim Harvey's come in and brought in new players and they're built on their defence and being hard to beat. Their away record shows that.

"But we feel we can beat anybody, and that's a feeling you take on board when you win games - you get that attitude and belief."
