A WOMAN was robbed at gunpoint by a man in Bicester today.

The woman, in her forties, was walking to work along Middleton Stoney Road when she was attacked.

She had just got off a bus at about 6.30am and was at the lower end near Bicester town centre.

A man came out of a footpath and asked for money and her mobile phone. He is believed to have been carrying a small black handgun.

She gave him her Samsung phone and he ran off in the direction of the Kings End and Greenwood home area.

Sgt Paul Crook, investigating the incident, said: "The woman was not injured but left shaken. She made her way to work where she called police. We immediately dispatched armed response vehicles and did an area search but found no trace of this man.

"He is white, aged 16-20; he is around 5ft 9in tall with a slim face and piercing blue eyes. He wore a dark hooded jacket and spoke with a Polish or Russian-type accent. The woman said he seemed nervous.

"This is an extremely serious offence and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or saw a man matching this description in the area to contact us."

Anyone with information is urged to contact Bicester CID via 0845 8 505 505.
