The body found in the canal in Banbury on Friday has been identified as a woman in her 80s.
The body was discovered in the water between Bridge Street and Mill Lock by a member of the public.
Initially it was reported by police that it was a man who had died, but yesterday they said it was in fact a woman.
The woman has not yet been formally identified and police are awaiting the results of a post-mortem which should take place tomorrow.
