A Didcot man bluffed his way to a £1m jackpot on TV game show Pokerface - and then even 'pokerfaced' his own family about his win.

Bachelor Dominic Jackson netted the cash on Thursday but when his triumph was screened on Saturday night, he still hadn't told his family he was a millionaire.

The 42-year-old management consultant watched the show - presented by Ant and Dec - with his mum Anita and sister Jessica, and kept his cards close to his chest. Contestants on the show answer a series of questions and are not told each other's score.

At the end of each round, one person drops out. The least successful person will leave with nothing, unless they can bluff their rivals to fold by adopting a confident poker face that they have answered all the questions correctly.

If someone folds before the countdown finishes, they keep their earnings. If not, the person at the bottom of the board leaves with nothing.

He said: "I didn't tell my family I'd won the million and in the final round, when the other contestant folded, there was pandemonium."

Mr Jackson, who beat 35 other contestants to the jackpot, said he was always prepared to gamble.

Other contestants had dubbed him 'the analyst' after he revealed his preparation of brain exercises and memory recall tests.

Now he is considering how to spend his fortune and is planning to chase a childhood dream of treading the boards.

"I am a bit of a frustrated thespian. I loved acting at school and I also love musical theatre," he said.

"If I could play the phantom in Phantom of the Opera ,that would be it for me."

Mr Jackson, who has raced saloon cars at Silverstone, said his other ambitions included competing in the Le Mans 24-hour race and gaining his pilot's licence.

He said: "I am in a position now where I can spend time doing this if I put my mind to it."

Mr Jackson said he had a number of investments in mind and would also relish the challenge of becoming a TV dragon on the show Dragons' Den.

He said: "Part of the situation on the show was I was prepared to gamble. It would be an interesting challenge to put £100,000 of my money up and be a dragon."

His first priority, however, will be helping out his retired mum by fixing her leaking roof.

"I want to make sure she enjoys her retirement. I am sure any son would do the same given the chance," he said.
