MORE volunteers are needed to clear up the green spaces in Blackbird Leys as summer approaches.
The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) group are hosting events every week to clear litter, plant trees and encourage wildlife.
Donning her gloves at Spindleberry Nature Reserve, community project officer Monique van Assouw said: “We’re trying to get more people involved in the group and these events are a great way to showcase what we do and get people involved.
“We do it for the wildlife and those who live nearby. It’s also a legacy for future generations.”

Events are every Wednesday between 10.30am and 1pm.
The group has been working steadily for a year to improve the quality of the parks and grassy areas of the estate.
Ms van Assouw has also arranged a series of health walks across the estate to encourage people to get fit. The group also helps to clear garden waste at Longlands care home.
Next week members will make a start with a project at the Blackbird Leys Community Centre in Blackbird Leys Road.
Over three weeks volunteers will install a bench and create a seating area.
