Fire crews were called to a pub near Witney after a tumble dryer caught fire, causing smoke to billow from the roof.
About 20 firefighters were called to the 17th century Royal Oak in Ramsden shortly after 10am on Tuesday.
A spokeswoman for Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters found smoke coming from the roof of the Grade II-listed building.
Crews from Witney, Charlbury and Rewley Road in Oxford tackled the fire started by the tumble dryer in a first-floor room.
Firefighters put out the blaze and prevented it from spreading to the rest of the pub.

Incident commander Guy Dunkley said: “The landlord controlled the initial development of the fire.
“However, it quickly became apparent that the fire could not be extinguished so the building was evacuated and the fire service called.
“Swift attendance and subsequent firefighting led to the damage being confined to the first floor of the public house.”
No one was available at the pub to comment on the fire.
