HUNDREDS of visitors to Dorchester Abbey were treated to classical and operatic pieces in a charity concert.
Arias at the Abbey 2 raised the roof for a second time on Saturday, following the success of the first event in 2012.
Performers this Saturday included Wallingford Parish Church Choir together with Oxford Chamber Orchestra and visiting opera singers.
The concert raised funds for the Bone Cancer Research Trust, which although rare, kills half of those diagnosed with it.
Co-organisers Andy and Angela Lewis, from Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, lost their son Alex to the disease in 2011 when he was 22 years old.
Mr Lewis said: “It was beyond our dreams. The atmosphere was electric – people were clearly emotional.”
The takings are currently being counted.
