Sir – A big thank you to the Civic Society and The Oxford Times for promoting the weekend’s OxClean spring clean in our city (Report, March 5). Scores of volunteers went out everywhere in Oxford with their grabbers and sacks to pick up the litter other people had thoughtlessly dropped.
I’d also like to put on record my thanks to the hard-working team of City Council staff who are out every day keeping Oxford clean and tidy.
The extra effort of the OxClean teams makes a real difference by searching out the grot spots that otherwise would go unnoticed.
I did my bit in Littlemore alongside local residents and school students from Oxford Academy. How much better it would be if everyone stopped discarding their bottles, cans, crisp packets and cigarette ends in the first place. Well done the Oxcleaners.
