KNITTING may not seem very scary, but to the uninitiated that maze of needles and numbers can be daunting.
That is why the ladies of the Jam Factory’s Tuesday night knitting group are here to help.
The experienced experts offer advice, hints and cheats to create the scarf, cardigan or socks of your dreams. Co-founder Kate Hipkiss said: “I knew Sarah Bradley, the other co-founder, at university.
“We thought it was a nice thing to do, to meet up to knit, and we didn’t know whether anyone else would come – but two did.”

Since then the group has grown in popularity.
Margaret Pargeter, 68, a retired Oxford college bursar from Cowley Road, said: “I am conservative with my knitting. But a lot of the group, have no fear in going out and knitting something and letting it take them in whatever direction it takes them.”
The knitters meet from 5.30pm to 7.30pm every Tuesday.
