Sir – It will soon be March and many Oxford residents will be giving up their time to take part in OxClean, an annual event that makes a real difference to the cleanliness of our streets.
In response to this fantastic effort I would like to urge our local authorities to clean up the roads around Oxford, in particular the ring road and the section of the A34 north of Botley which have appalling levels of litter.
If this litter is left it will get shredded once we enter the grass cutting season and the problem will become worse. Of course, the real solution would be for the small number of inconsiderate people not to drop litter in the first place.
