A 10-month closure of First Turn railway bridge at Wolvercote begins on January 5.
The bridge will close to through-traffic, with cars diverted via Wolvercote Roundabout, while it is demolished and replaced.
Network Rail has confirmed that a temporary bridge to the north of the existing one will allow pedestrians and dismounted cyclists to cross the railway line.
The closure will take place from January 25 to November 22 next year and see the tracks under the bridge doubled up.
It is part of the upgrade of the line between Oxford and Bicester ahead of the opening of a new link from the city to London Marylebone.
