OXFORD’S Story Museum has started a new weekly lunchtime session where stories are read out loud to adults while they eat.

Soup and a Story is a half-hour event held in the Pembroke Street museum on Fridays from 12.30pm.

Cath Hogan, the museum’s learning and participation officer, said: “The Story Museum soup is delicious, but it tastes even better with a story.”

She added that the museum, which opened its doors at the former telephone exchange in April this year, has branched out beyond its core audience of children.

Sophie Hiscock, the museum’s fundraising and communications manager, said: “We wanted to make sure the grown-ups – as well as children – had a chance to enjoy a story.”
