The speed limit on the A40 Northern bypass is to be reduced from 70mph to 50mph.
The new limit will apply from the section approaching the Green Road roundabout in Headington to the Marston junction.
Cabinet member David Nimmo Smith made the decision at a transport meeting at County Hall yesterday. It is being cut as this stretch of the bypass will include a new junction for the Barton Park development.
No date has been set for the junction to be built and the limit reduction will come into force when this is completed.
