THE A40 between Eynsham roundabout and Witney has re-opened after a crash between a car and bus.

It was closed from the roundabout and B4022 at Witney after police were called to the scene at Barnard Gate near Eynsham at about 10.45am.

The collision involved a S1/S2 Stagecoach bus and a Peugeot 207, which both ended up on the embankment at the side of the road.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said it cut off the roof of the Peugot to rescue an elderly woman driver and a young girl.

South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman Michelle Archer said a child and two adults had been taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

She said she had no reports the injuries were life-threatening. The road re-opened at about 2.45pm.
