WHILE the Queen traditionally sends a birthday card to those turning 100, perhaps she should take a leaf out of Dorothy Pearce’s book and poke her on Facebook instead.
She is proof that age is no barrier to the technological world.
Dorothy will be celebrating her centenary today at the Barton Bash event.
But she is more often seen on her iPad checking her Facebook page or playing the game Candy Crush.
With so much attention on the dangers of the Internet from scams to sexual predators, we can forget it also keeps people connected.
She may have been born in a time before the Internet, but Dorothy is living proof that you’re never too old to learn new skills.
We hope she has a wonderful birthday.
