THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised for good causes at a boxing club’s annual charity competition.
South Moreton Boxing Club invited 28 fighters to take part in 14 fights for their chosen charity at its Summer Rumble earlier this month.
About £40,000 has been raised for charities since the event started eight years ago, including about £3,000 at this year’s event. This included £900 for the Dorchester-based charity Footsteps Foundation, which helps children with cerebral palsy and other neuromotor disorders.
The two-day event ended with professional photographer Christian Sinkinson, from Wallingford, defeating Steve Clapp in a three-round bout.
Mr Sinkinson, 32, said: “I’m really pleased to have won this fight and managed to help raise funds for the charity at the same time.”
