AGENTS organising the sale of Oxford Stadium say they have received “a number” of bids but have refused to say how many.
The owner of the stadium in Sandy Lane, GRA Acquisition, put the stadium up for lease after withdrawing its planning appeal in May. Originally the company wanted to build 220 homes on the site but was refused planning permission by Oxford City Council.
Yesterday, the Oxford Mail reported that London-based estate agent and greyhound owner Robert Brinkley had put in a bid to buy the site, as well as Oxfordshire landowner Robert Tyrrell.
Josh Garside, a spokesman for agents CBRE, said: “We have received a number of proposals for both lease and the freehold.
“Besides the ones you have reported on, the other proposers have requested that their offers and their terms remain entirely confidential and I have a responsibility to ensure that this is upheld.”
The company has also launched a judicial review against the council’s decision to designate the stadium as a conservation area.
