IN response to the letter from Paul Marlow, we are saddened that he felt Dorothy Pearce had been given too much coverage in celebration of her 100th birthday.
I have been asked to point out that Dorothy isn’t just about selling raffle tickets, she has been a pillar of the community for several years (long before Mr Marlow became a resident of Barton), taking care of her many friends in the latter stages of their lives, as well as giving her time freely to the community and expecting nothing in return.
So few people reach the tender age of 100 and it is fitting to celebrate and honour someone so highly respected and loved by all.
Mr Marlow, we sincerely hope that should you reach the same landmark birthday in years to come no one treats you in the same manner.
Your comments are totally uncalled for and you should be ashamed of your actions and words.
You are in a minority of one, and fortunately Dorothy will be surrounded by all her countless friends on her special day, and we won’t allow you to rain on her parade.
