MOTORBIKES may not be a royal mode of transport, but that didn’t stop the Duke of Gloucester, Prince Richard, enjoying his visit to youth charity Trax yesterday.

The Queen’s cousin spent the afternoon with the motor project in Woodstock Road, Oxford, which supports disadvantaged youngsters by helping them to learn non-academic subjects.

On a tour of the project he spoke to students from several schools across the county who are helping pupils take part in courses such as bike maintenance, gardening and cooking.

The project’s general manager Lyndon Biddle said: “He was a very nice, friendly and genuine chap who made it very easy for everyone to talk with him. One group of pupils were doing a workshop on the effects of alcohol, and he was good enough to get involved and put on some pretend beer goggles.”
