COUNCILLORS are considering plans for 101 new homes in the Vale of White Horse District Council area – 36 homes in Uffington and 65 in Sutton Courtenay.
But Vale councillor for Sutton Courtenay, Gervase Duffield, said that although he was not against the building of some homes, the Government was forcing housing through and that previously the planning authority had controlled such decisions.
Redrow Homes wants to build 65 homes on a grass field behind Milton Road, Sutton Courtenay, including 25 affordable homes for housing associations, while Redcliffe Homes Ltd wants to build up to 36 homes behind Station Road in Uffington.
The planning committee will also decide on a controversial plan to build two shops and 24 flats in Wallingford Street, Wantage, in the town centre conservation area. Councillors meet to discuss the plans on Wednesday at Wantage Civic Hall, Portway, at 6.30pm.
