Sir – Despite West Oxfordshire District Council (WODC) not having finalised their Local Plan for 2016 onwards, Bloor Homes have put in a planning application for 700 homes on land between Carterton and Brize Norton.
This application, known as Carterton East, seems to be an attempt to take advantage of the new planning guidance issued by the Government at the expense of a fully agreed and signed off Local Plan.
The irony is of course that Conservative-controlled WODC are potentially having their whole development process and long-term plans undermined by the ill-conceived guidance set out by local MP David Cameron and his Government. It seems once again that localism, this time in West Oxfordshire, is about to be seriously undermined.
Paul Hughes, Carterton
