THE churchyard where the body of teenager Jayden Parkinson was found will be rededicated at the weekend.

The Bishop of Dorchester will attend All Saints Church in Didcot on Sunday for the ceremony.

Jayden’s body was discovered in a grave by detectives on December 18 at the Great Western Cemetery in Lydalls Road.

The Diocese of Oxford announced the 4pm rededication ceremony yesterday.

Spokesman Sarah Meyrick said: “This is an opportunity to say special prayers of blessing in the churchyard, and reclaim it for the community, after the extremely distressing discovery of Jayden Parkinson’s body in a grave last year.”

The former Didcot Girls’ School pupil, 17, had been missing from an Oxford hostel for more than two weeks when her body was found.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has launched an investigation into Thames Valley Police’s response to a missing person’s report and their subsequent actions following the disappearance of Jayden.

The force referred itself to the IPCC on December 14.

Jayden’s ex-boyfriend, Ben Blakeley, 22, from Reading, has been charged with her murder. Blakeley, and a 17-year-old boy from Didcot, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have also been charged with perverting the course of justice.
