ANNETTE White, of Rewley Road, wrote to you (March 3) about the felling of lots of trees along the canal by British Waterways (BW) now the Canal and Rivers Trust (CRT).
As one of the local councillors, I did question this at the time.
The city council’s tree officer reviewed the proposals with BW and ensured that all the work in Oxford was justified for safety reasons. BW was asked to plant new trees to replace the ones they removed from the conservation area and they agreed to do so.
I’m very grateful to Ms White for telling us that this hasn’t yet been done. I have asked the tree officer to chase it up.
Cllr SUSANNA PRESSEL, Rawlinson Road, Oxford
