People convicted of offences at magistrates' courts in Oxfordshire recently:

  • Jason Connerty, 28, of Vineyard, Abingdon, admitted shoplifting food from the Co-operative in Abingdon on December 14 and December 20. Given a four-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. Told to pay an £80 victims’ surcharge.
  • Shane Loveridge, 20, of Field Avenue, Blackbird Leys, Oxford, admitted entering Charlton Village Newsagent in Barnards Way, Wantage, as a trespasser and stealing alcohol and cash worth £220 on January 2. Community order made with activity and supervision requirements. Also told to do 140 hours of unpaid community work in the next 12 months. Told to pay £220 compensation and £85 costs.
  • Martyn Bowers, 48, of Roding Way, Didcot, admitted possession of Class A drug cocaine in Roding Way, Didcot on October 12. Fined £50, a £20 victims’ surcharge, and £30 costs.
  • Calum Dawson, 21, of Radley Road, Abingdon, convicted of interfering with a blue Citroen C8 and a maroon Volvo V40 in Bostock Road, Abingdon, on August 11. Fined £300 in total, a £20 victims’ surcharge and £500 costs.
  • Jaroslaw Siwak, 29, of Queensway, Didcot, convicted of drink driving in Broadway, Didcot on October 13. Had 127 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Given a six-month prison sentence suspended for 12 months and three-month curfew requirement. Also told to pay a £60 victims’ surcharge and £650 costs. Banned from driving for 30 months.
  • Ann Rooney, 28, of Court Farm Road, Oxford, was convicted of assaulting a woman by beating her in Alice Smith Square, Littlemore, on July 23. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £15 victims’ surcharge and £250 costs.
  • Michael Davies, 29, of Hanney Road, Steventon, admitted stealing two mobile phones worth £790 from Didcot ChequeChangers on September 9, a Gibson electric guitar from a man in Didcot between June 10 and 20 and £43.89 of alcohol from Templars Square Co-op in Cowley on December 16. Also admitted possessing crack cocaine, a Class A drug, and driving without insurance or a licence in Palmer Road, Faringdon, on January 13, and failing to surrender to custody at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on January 24. Given a community order requiring six months’ drug rehabilitation treatment and 120 hours of unpaid work. Ordered to pay a £60 victims’ surcharge and £100 costs and banned from driving for 12 months.
  • Penelope Leonard, 50, of Warborough Road, Letcombe Regis, near Wantage, was convicted of driving faster than the 30mph speed limit on Steventon Road, Drayton, on July 16. Fined £125 and ordered to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £80 costs. Licence endorsed with three points.
  • John Jackman, 63, of Caldecott Close, Abingdon, convicted of speeding in Steventon Road, Drayton, on August 30, at a speed exceeding the 30mph speed limit. Fined £200 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Given three points on driving licence.
  • Aaron Lewis, 21, of Grebe Close, Abingdon, convicted of using a motor vehicle or trailer with the ply or cord exposed in Ock Street, Abingdon, on August 3. Fined £200 and told to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Given three points on driving licence.
  • Kenneth Macritchie, 49, of Kirby Close, South Moreton, near Didcot, convicted of speeding in Wantage Road, Didcot, on August 6, at a speed exceeding the 30mph speed limit. Fined £400 and told to pay a £40 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Given six points on driving licence.
  • Andre Garrick, 18, of Hudson Street, Bicester, admitted assault by beating at The Bridge nightclub in Hythe Bridge Street, Oxford, on December 15. Community order made with a four-week curfew requirment. Told to pay £150 compensation, a £60 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
  • Robert Gibson, 32, of Rowan Close, Carterton admitted assault by beating in Carterton on January 24. Fined £135, £50 compensation, a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
  • Jordan Hutchinson, 41, of no fixed address, admitted assault by beating in Banbury on October 17. Sent to prison for four months and a restraining order made.
  • Johnathan McCarthy, 29, of Kenilworth Way, Banbury, admitted possession of Class B cannabis in Kenilworth Way, Banbury, on January 23. Fined £75, a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
  • Joshua Russell, 20, of Eastfield Road, Witney, admitted assault by beating in Witney on September 14. Fined £110, a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
  • Paramjit Sahota, 32, of West Street, Banbury, admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance in Southam Road, Banbury, on January 23. Given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for two years. Told to do 250 hours of unpaid work in 12 months. Also told to pay an £80 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for 56 months.
  • Marc Taylor, 48, of St Clement’s Street, Oxford, admitted shoplifting a hooded top worth £4.99 from Barnardos in Cowley Road, Oxford, on October 26. Fined £20, a £20 victims’ surcharge, and £20 costs.
  • Tyler Biddiss, 18, of Britannia Close, Carterton, admitted drink-driving on the A40 at Minster Lovell on December 9. Had 226 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of urine, above legal limit of 107 micrograms. Fined £250, a £25 victims’ surcharge, and £85 costs. Banned from driving for 20 months.
  • Nicholas Donald, 22, of Middleton Road, Banbury, admitted being drunk and disorderly in North Bar Street, Banbury, on January 19. Fined £110, a £20 victims’ surcharge and £40 costs.
  • Gerald Bagshall, 45, of Leach Road, Bicester, admitted stealing a Halloween spider worth £12 from Sainsbury’s on October 29. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay a £15 victims’ surcharge and £45 costs.
  • Aaron Savin, 22, of Banbury Road, Kidlington, admitted failing to provide a specimen to police when suspected of having been drunk in charge of a vehicle in Oxford on August 22. Fined £275 and told to pay a £28 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for six months.
  • Casey Scott, 25, of Rotary Way, Banbury, admitted stealing a Vax cleaner worth £79.99 from Homebase in Bicester on November 25. Given a community order with curfew from February 5 to April 2, 8pm to 6am, and told to pay £79.99 compensation and a £60 victims’ surcharge.
  • Mario Da Costa Pedro, 37, of Kings Court, Carterton, admitted driving on Kings Court, Carterton, without valid insurance and was convicted of failing to provide a specimen at Abingdon Police Station on June 2. Given an 18 week prison sentence suspended for 24 months. Told to pay £75 compensation, an £80 victims’ surcharge and £775 costs. Four-year driving ban.
  • Ryan Kane, 28, of Northumberland Court, Duke Street, Banbury, admitted stealing £12.50 worth of alcohol on June 17 and a £7.99 bottle of wine on October 7 from Esso in Banbury. Fined £100 and to pay £20.49 compensation, a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
  • Matthew Cox, 34, of Brome Place, Headington, admitted stealing £205 of toys from WH Smith in Oxford on October 6. Given a community order with a 9pm-6am curfew from February 7 to March 21. To pay £205 compensation and a £60 surcharge.
