I WATCHED the programme on BBC 2 on February 4, 'Inside The Animal Mind'. It got me thinking.

We saw a raven collect stones to weigh down a trapdoor to retrieve a long stick so that it could hook out some food contained in a narrow container.

We also saw a jay with a problem of how to retrieve food from a clear plastic tube that was half-filled with water – it kept dropping stones into the tube to raise the water level until it was high enough to reach the food.

Now, if a jay can work out that doing that raises the water level, then surely our MPs, etc, can work out that by taking out the stones, etc, the water level then goes down.
