SO the Government has got its way and, in the House of Lords on the evening of January 28, freedom of speech was taken away by the Conservative Government and the Gagging Law (The Lobbying Bill – Editor) was approved and is going to become law.
The final vote, 245 Lords voted in favour and 245 against. Unfortunately, the rules mean that in the case of a tie, the Government gets its way. It could not have been arranged better if they set it up themselves.
This is two fingers up at us the voters by the Government. I’m worried about what it means for the future of democracy, and what it tells us about the state of British politics and the way our leaders are quietly stripping away our rights as citizens of this once-great country.
Where was the uproar from the media? Why wasn’t this all over the front pages of papers?
My conspiracy theories are going into overdrive.
I just don’t know whether to stay in this country or go to somewhere that has fewer restrictions. I am sick of our governments slowly giving our rights away, and cowering down to aggressive immigrants who will not integrate into British society.
Last one out, turn the lights off please.
