I AM writing concerning the 4C bus route closure.

What a shame that the Oxford Bus Company appear to have done no research among the local community in Dean Court and its environs before announcing the withdrawal of the 4C bus route.

If they had even so much as read the Oxford Mail over the last few weeks, they would have seen that the Dean Court Community Centre is about to rise like the phoenix from the ashes, providing a hub for a wide range of community-based activities.

From March onwards, the centre will be attracting users from the surrounding area, many of whom, for reasons of mobility, economics or concern for the environment, will not be travelling by car.

The Pinnocks Way bus stop is ideal for them, if only the Oxford Bus Company will reconsider its decision and allow the 4C service to continue.

In this area, we are already threatened by the ogre of the Doric proposals and the loss of amenities if they cannot be stopped.

The loss of Seacourt Hall might well result in the migration of some of its activities to the Dean Court Community Centre, resulting in extra revenue for the Oxford Bus Company – if they have the grace and economic sense to reconsider.
