WE have two rescue cats from the Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary. We know that it is in financial difficulty and trying not to close down – things have been made worse by the recent storm damage.

I looked at their website for recent news and noticed that they were having a concert to raise funds at the local church hall in Stadhampton – so we bought tickets.

Oxford Mail:

Assistant warden Gabby Tomczyk holds ‘Pestka’, who is up for adoption

We were entertained last Saturday by the Sands Theatre Arts Group with a mixture of drama and singing – and the hall was full. One solo from Oliver! was accompanied by a lovely little dog up for adoption at the Sanctuary who was portrayed as Bill Sykes’s dog in the show. (She was called Ella and was certainly not a vicious bulldog) If we didn’t have cats, we would have adopted her. The penultimate number was a trio of singers. Alongside them was a screen showing various dogs and cats looking for homes. It was a very enjoyable evening.

The Sanctuary is trying very hard to raise funds by putting on a number of events to appeal to different people.

The animals cannot help themselves and rely on us to save them. If you love animals, I would urge you to do what we did, by looking at the website to see how you can help in the many different ways or attend one of the Sanctuary’s events.

They are desperate for your help.
