Members of the North Oxfordshire Guild of Weavers and Dyers demonstrated their art at the Holly Tree Club in 1985.
Among the items they made was a shawl for the village’s oldest inhabitant, Louise Fulbrook, 96.

Oxford United manager Maurice Evans unveiled a sign to mark success in Oxfordshire’s best kept village competition in 1986. Deddington won first prize in the large village class. Mr Evans is pictured centre, flanked by, left to right, parish council chairman Rodney Hayward, Margaret Campbell, chairman of Oxfordshire Rural Community Council, competition organiser Geoffrey Hitchcock and Colin Cordy, sales and marketing director of sponsors Halls Brewery.
Sub-postmaster Ken Garrett and his wife Edith retired in 1985 after running the sub post office and newsagents in Market Place for 20 years. Mr Garrett. 62, said: “It’s time to call it a day before we get too old.”
