A Didcot mother-of-two has backed a new website offering advice on family mediation.

Seirian Kennedy, who split from her husband last year, said mediation had helped them resolve practical issues and she believes the new on-line guide could help more families through difficult times.

The guide has been launched by advicenow.org.uk Mrs Kennedy said: "Mediation is neutral, which is one benefit, and another is having somebody there to clarify and maybe re-interpret what you are saying. There is no pressure and that creates a relaxed atmosphere to begin with."

Mrs Kennedy said the mediation sessions had helped create agreements both her and her husband were happy with and had also helped them complete legal paperwork.

She added: "I think at some point in most people's life mediation could play a good role. The more people that know about it, the better."

The online guide has been written by Imogen Clout, author of the Which? Guide to Divorce.

Podcasts also give listeners the chance to hear several mediation sessions.
