POLICE believe missing woman Maria Pereira may have travelled to Bahrain or India.

Mrs Pereira, 43, has not been seen since a service at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Henley on Sunday, December 3.

Officers say she may have travelled back to India, where she is from, or to Bahrain, where she has strong links.

Police spokesman Toby Shergold said detectives were also examining CCTV evidence.

He said: "We can't discuss where the footage is from but officers are using it to look for clues."

Police have already searched Mrs Pereira's house in Catslip, Nettlebed, and the surrounding grounds.

They also went to the Church of Sacred Heart, Henley, on Christmas Day to ask the congregation whether they knew anything about the circumstances of Mrs Pereira's disappearance.

Acting Det Insp Chris Biddle, of Abingdon CID, said: "We are still investigating all possibilities, but we are looking seriously at the prospect Maria may no longer be in the UK.

"There is someone who knows where she is, or what has happened to her and we urge them to contact us.

"Equally if Maria has left of her own accord I beg her to call us and let us know she is OK."

Mrs Pereira is 5ft 2in tall and of medium build, with black hair and dark brown eyes.

She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black raincoat with a fur hood and was carrying a black handbag.

Anyone with information can contact Acting Det Insp Biddle on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
