A CALL has gone out for volunteers to help community groups in Oxfordshire.
Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action (OCVA) says that community groups in Oxfordshire are not taking advantage of the help and support available to them.
It wants to recruit ‘community ambassadors’ to help these groups access support and enable people to volunteer.
Volunteering project officer Hannah Fenton said: “We’ve noticed that not all community groups are accessing OCVA services and that there are still many people not matched up to voluntary positions.
“We saw a need for these connections to be made through someone who knows, understands and cares about their local community.
“The community ambassador will be an important and valued source of information and advice.
“From home or in a central location in their town, they will help individuals and organisations to access the expertise they need.
“This might be matching people with volunteering opportunities, finding funding sources and giving basic advice, or encouraging more collaboration locally.”
