RADIOHEAD bassist Colin Greenwood accepted a cheque for £26,000 from a county fundraising group for an African youth charity.
Kennington Overseas Aid gave the cash to The Children’s Radio Foundation, of which Mr Greenwood is a patron.
The charity runs 68 projects in five countries to train young people in broadcast skills. Mr Greenwood – whose group has sold 30m albums worldwide – said: “We are all so grateful and inspired by all of the work they have done as a community.
“Kennington is one of the most generous communities in the country.”
The group – whose fundraising activities include knocking on doors to drum up support – has raised £445,000 since it was formed in 1969.
