BUDGET superstore Aldi is planning to build a new shop in Didcot.
The German discount store is due to submit plans for a 1,600sq m shop next month to South Oxfordshire District Council.
The building would sit next to Jubilee roundabout between the junction of Hitchcock Way and Broadway.
Town leaders have welcomed the plans in principle. Town mayor Axel Macdonald said: “I think having a range of supermarkets is good for a town, it provides competition and choice.” But other councillors said the scheme might create traffic problems.
