More than 100 people attended the inaugural meeting of Oxfordshire’s first atheist church on Saturday.
It was held at the St Aldate’s Tavern in Oxford and featured pop songs ending in a grand finale of Monty Python’s Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.
Co-organiser Rob Bailey, 42, said: “I was playing bass guitar and it was great seeing smiling faces looking backing at me.
“We had 110 people come and so it was really well attended.”
The Cowley Road resident added: “We are not trying to stand against Christianity, we just want to do our own thing.”
