AT last someone has spoken the truth. In Mr Whittaker’s article on October 17, city councillor Mike Rowley, who represents Barton for the Labour party, states: “If you have no allocation of parking spaces in Barton West, the existing estate and Northway Estate will be deluged with people who live in the new development.”

So much for the so-called Barton/Northway Link Road, where Councillor Roy Darke states, in his letter on September 30: “Added noise and traffic danger from a few extra buses will be hardly noticed.”

Extra buses?

At present we have no link road or buses. If Northway is to be deluged with parking by people, in the new development (October 17) how will this deluge arrive on Northway Estate?

People will not be able to take their cars on to the bus, and driving all the long way round defeats the whole purpose. No, Mr Darke, you and your friends have been found out – not my “blatant misinformation” or “offensive imagery” (September 20). I was right – you are looking for a way out of the traffic problems on the A40 and its tributaries and poor, old Northway is to be the sad recipient.

To even attempt to solve your traffic problems by turning one of Oxford’s best estates into a nasty, polluted, dangerous place, is a disgrace, and to pass this off as something which will benefit us is to insult our intelligence.
