PUPILS at Dashwood Road Primary School at Banbury learned how supermarkets worked.

They studied the design and layout of Sainsbury’s store near their school in Marlborough Place, the products it sold and ways to promote healthy eating.

The results of their studies in 1989 were put on display at Banbury Library and in a waiting room at the Horton General Hospital for the public to see.

The projects ended with the presentation of a cheque for a computer by supermarket manager Michael Anderson to headmaster Fred Riches, pictured here with some of the pupils.
