Sir - The article (December 8) gives a false impression of the county council position on the traffic signals at the George Street/Cornmarket Street junction. The article quoted from the letter sent out by an officer which clearly refers to the operation of the junction being reviewed, which will include looking at any changes in accident patterns. At no point does the letter refer to the possibility of removing the traffic signals. They were installed three years ago and it was considered appropriate to review their operation. This review will be the subject of a report to the cabinet member for transport on February 15.
John Cramer, Principal engineer, Oxfordshire County Council
